Dental Team Southwest Haiti February
2012
A
Dental Mission from First Congregational Church, Ossipee, NH, and the Congregational Church, Union
has returned from nine-day’s service in the southern part of Haiti. Team members were Wolfeboro Dentist
Dr. George Gaillardetz; Bill Martin, Wakefield; Rusty Reinhold, Ossipee; Oscar Huarac, International Teams
Missionary, Peru; Joe Bradley, Ossipee, Vice-President Partners with
Haiti.
The
all-volunteer team brought to Haiti $1700 in funds and dental supplies donated by members of the Lakes Region
Dental Society. An additional $1,400 was donated by the team members and partnering churches, along with
clothing and over-the-counter medical supplies. The team saw almost 150 patients in two clinics, two schools and
an orphanage, in Port au Prince, LaPlaine and Petit Goave. Read whole story
Dental
hygiene was an important part of the mission. Instruction was provided in four elementary school grades. Several
hundred tooth brushes, tooth paste and dental floss were distributed. Every patient received these items as
well.
Especially gratifying to the team was the privilege of working alongside three Haitian
dentists and two assistants, and the making of many other new friends. This was the
14th short-term mission
to Haiti over the past 15 years from First Congregational Church, Ossipee.

Getting Involved on a Work Team or Vision
Trip
Probably the best way to really learn about Haiti is to go
there, see the people and visit their churches, schools and homes.
We have a number of work teams going during
the year. Many are organized by local churches and are listed as "closed." However, if the date and location
appeal to you, please get in touch with our Work Teams Coordinator. He can connect you with leaders. You would likely need to be involved in
orientation sessions, so being near an originating point is a plus.
If your church would like to form a work
team, please also contact us to discuss options. Also vision trips can be arranged to see some of our ministries
firsthand. If your church has an interest please let us know. We will continue to post any new options
here.
