AFCA Orphanage
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways." Isaiah 55:8
The building started out to be the home for Pastor Renes and his family. Then it was decided it was going to be a guest house for the work teams. Who would ever have thought it would become a home to house twenty children. It was decided by the advisory board that it would be occupied by girls starting at the age of six years old. It was also decided that the house parents would be a Haitian couple. The couple that was chosen had no children of their own and are now the proud parents of four. Without the vision and financial support of Donald Lyons and Haiti Under God, the orphanage would not have become a haven for these little girls - Thank you!
It has been exciting to watch the building come to completion over the last year. Large holes were dug in the yard for the cisterns, murals were painted on the walls of the girl's bedrooms, toilets and sinks were put in the bathrooms, bunk beds were made and stuffed animals and dolls were placed on them for the children, and a full kitchen with real cabinets was built, where the aromas of Haitian cooking are smelt.
As I arrived in Haiti on July 27th with a work team, I could not wait to visit the orphanage and the four little girls who now had a home and a mama and papa to take care of them. They were all dressed up waiting for me to take their photos for the Bethany Project Sponsorship Program. They will be attending the Lydie Lariviere Noel (AFCA) School in September. There is no doubt that Lydie would be very pleased with the orphanage at AFCA.
If you would like to sponsor one of these girls, Widline, Deborah, Claudette, or Lovely, please contact me, Nancy Turner, at nturner@partnerswithhaiti.org.
