AFCA (Association of Christian Women In Action) began as the result of the compassionate vision of Lydie Noel for abandoned homeless women and their children in Port-au-Prince. A home was rented and Lydie began taking in woman and their children on a daily basis where their physical and spiritual needs were met. In addition, basic skills were taught to the women to equip them to become self-sufficient while the children had the opportunity to attend school for the first time.
In 1986 Partners With Haiti purchased 10 acres of land. Due to the political unrest over the years, the village land stayed undeveloped except for the construction of 2 buildings that were being used as classrooms for 150 students. In 1995 the board voted unanimously to start major construction on the property. Engineering Ministries of Colorado Springs, CO offered to provide all the engineering design studies and drawings at no cost.
