Rebuilding Security Walls AFCA Village
Progressing
In Haiti security
means a wall. With many thanks to all who have prayed and given, the final stretch of wall along the north side of
the Village in Port au Prince is being restored. When the 2010 earthquake hit, sections of the wall collapsed or
tilted. The thousands of refugees who had fled their fallen homes to tents in the Village are now being resettled
elsewhere. Ministries at AFCA can now recommence. To protect the Village, the walls will be topped with barbed
wire. Pastor Renes Deciere shows what the walls are like and looks forward to getting the work
completed in the coming months.
Rural Christian School Marbial, Haiti Rebuilt by
Many Friends after Earthquake
Come take a video tour with us to the
beautiful campus of the Ecole Bethesda de Marbial high in the rugged hills 10 miles northeast of Jacmel. This
is the birthplace of our Associate Director for Haiti, Rev. Martinez Jovin. On a recent visit to inspect the work
were Emma Jovin, Dr. Claude and Huguette Noel (Director for Haiti) and Joe Bradley (President of Partners with
Haiti).
The only access to this remote site
is by a gravel road that criss-crosses a river bed that is impassable after any heavy rainfall. The 2-hour drive
from the paved highway was much rewarded when the team was greeted by the happy faces of children playing in the
yards, while many others were obeserved in their studies. A special treat was enjoyed when visiting the Boy's
Home to have heard two uplifting spiritual songs from the students.
It is hard to imagine the amount of
work that has gone into the reconstruction after the 2010 earthquake destroyed almost all the buildings. This would
have not been possible without the support of the many friends who donated funds, and who traveled to Haiti on
work teams to render direct assistance.
